Storing faster, more and more flexible: RWE Gas Storage West offers its customers flexible products via its innEXpool which combines the two cavern storages Epe H-Gas and Xanten. Being connected to the market area Trading Hub Europe (THE) innEXpool will assist us to optimise for our customers the operational procedures and the availability of storage products.

Based on its geological properties the salt deposit Gronau-Epe is ideal for the construction of storage caverns. Today it is one the largest cavern fields worldwide. The attractive location near the Dutch border, not far from the large long-distance gas pipelines, render Gronau-Epe into a first-class location - also for RWE Gas Storage West.

Here our company operates three storage facilities with different gas qualities: one H and one L-Gas storage as well as a G-Gas storage which is directly connected to the Dutch grid. We can adjust the capacities of the different facilities according to market needs. The Epe H-Gas storage covers currently a working gas volume of about 0.4 billion cubic metres and is part of innEXpool since April 2017.

The underground storage Xanten with a working gas volume of nearly 0.2 billion cubic metres is a reliable natural gas storage to safeguard a continuous supply in the region Lower Rhine. The storage is connected to the long-distance grid of Thyssengas in the market area Trading Hub Europe (THE) and is part of innEXpool since 01 April 2017.
